    On 3 December 2025, the Financial Conduct Authority extended their deadline on the pause for responding to complaints around motor finance commissions. The pause will now be in place until 31 May 2026. You can find the latest information on our website here:

    What should I do if I need to tell you one of your customers has passed away?

    We’re very sorry for your loss and want to make this process as simple as possible.

     

    You can call our special case team on 0333 321 6061 or email specialcasehandling@closebrothers.com who can talk you through the next steps.
     

    We’ll need:

    • A copy or clear photo of the death certificate (an interim certificate is also accepted) and;
    • If there’s a Will, when you can, please send a photo of the page showing the executor’s details. If an executor has been appointed, we’ll contact them directly. 

    Some of the options available:

    • Keep the vehicle
      • We can provide a settlement figure, which must be paid in full
    • Return the vehicle
      • We’ll arrange collection of the vehicle. This’ll be accepted as the full and final settlement of the loan. You’ll need to give us contact details for the person we can arrange the collection of the vehicle from.
